Claude Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 wtf? it's all usb drives, this one, as well as 3 others work on my laptop but are not working on this desktop. help?
Red Knight Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 Isn't your desktop too old & cannot right initialize your drives? Did you install it before?I mean, was it working on your desktop properly sometimes?
Claude Posted September 4, 2006 Author Posted September 4, 2006 it was working about a week ago, dunno what i changed for it to stop.i upgraded the usb drivers a few minutes ago, still no change
nitroshift Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 It has nothing to do with the drivers. The problem is that your pc doesn't detect the file system present on your USB devices.
allen2 Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 Like Nitroshift said, windows can't find the filesystem. You should check in disks administration if the partition is still seen ( from the screenshot it shouldn't be ). From here you have 2 choices :- You need the data that was on the drive and you'll have to try to restore the partition or the data using for example acronis disk director (partition recovery) or R-studio (data recovery).- You don't need the data that was on the drive and in this case, you can try to destroy the partition and createit again using disks administration.
Claude Posted September 5, 2006 Author Posted September 5, 2006 i dont think its just the individual drive, as i said that its all usb drives i have
nitroshift Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 Then it's due to how windows handles removable storage devices. I'd check for viruses / malware the pc first then try to troubleshoot this issue.
