Steven W Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 I just installed WME 7.1. I was trying to setup a custom profile. I have used the Windows Media 9 series codecs in this version of WME before on a WinME PC. Problem is that the only two choices I'm given for audio are :"Windows Media Audio 9 Voice" and "Windows Media Audio 9.1 Professional"The odd thing is if I use one of the generic profiles that are including it automatically encodes using Windows Media Audio 9.1. Why isn't "Windows Media Audio 9/9.1" one of the choices I'm given?I have been installing other codecs on this system. I have used some of mdgx's updates and others of my own. Please Help!
kartel Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 I have used some of mdgx's updates and othersThat's why.......98SE is touchy with 9series crap, stick 7.1 and no 9
Steven W Posted August 22, 2006 Author Posted August 22, 2006 Okay did some reading and someone had a problem with WME 7.1 too. It wasn't related but I think this may be the solution. Install WME 7.1 before you install WMP 9. I will probably never know because my Hard Drive failed this morning. Luckily there were two in this PC. I'm now running XP and Fedora Core 5.
eidenk Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 Do you know there is a way to encode in Windows Media 9 on Win98 ?http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=33719
MDGx Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 (edited) I have used some of mdgx's updates and othersThat's why.......98SE is touchy with 9series crap, stick 7.1 and no 9I have been using WMP9 on Win98 SE with WMP9 XP + WMP10 enhancements for a pretty long time, and *never* had any problems. And I do mess with my system all the time. Please see my other post about WMP9:http://www.msfn.org/board/?s=&showtopi...st&p=550873My only gripe with WMP9 is that it cannot play DVDs in 9x/ME. But that's what MPC is for [free GPL]: http://sourceforge.net/projects/guliverkli/Hope this helps. Edited August 29, 2006 by MDGx
Steven W Posted September 30, 2006 Author Posted September 30, 2006 I have recently returned to Win98SE. If you want to use Windows Media Encoder 7.1, make sure you install it and restart before installing WMP 9. This solved all issues that I had.
