Should you defragment...

Hi everyone!

My unnattended XP CD is almost complete and I'm just about to burn it but I want to know if it will make any difference defagmenting the HDD before burning?

LOL I agree.

When you burn a cd, all your (relevant) files are copied into a temp folder during the process so there would be no difference at all.

Just means you'd be wasting your time defragmenting your HD.

you might want to defrag if you have problems with cd burning, i had a buffer underun problem once burning large heavily fragmented file...

but in general if you dont have any problems, you should just burn as is...

R600, the files are not nesecerely copied to a temp folder, they are if you use windows cd burning, or if you specificly enable it in other burning software.

Won't make a difference. Data burnt to CD stay in their data pits from start to end and never move around, so it has 0% fragmentation.

I would defragment for two reasons, one because it helps your computer in numerous other ways, but it can also speed up the CD burning process itself. :-)
