awergh Posted August 7, 2006 Posted August 7, 2006 (edited) On my computer ive been finding that when game use directX they tend to freeze for example when I run Unreal Tournament with DirectX it will freeze after a while but if i use OpenGL it works. Even games like AOE2 will freeze.Pentium III733 Mhz256MB RAMWindows 98SE/XP ProNvidia Gforce 4 MX 420 PCI Edited September 3, 2006 by awergh
Shindo_Hikaru Posted August 7, 2006 Posted August 7, 2006 Do you have the latest drivers for your video card, sound card and so on. Also does your video card support the Direct X versions of the games.
awergh Posted August 7, 2006 Author Posted August 7, 2006 DirectX 9.0c (not the june version though)umm, i was using the latest drivers for my video card on 98se but it had problems so ive been trying different onesThe card should support the directx versions. Since it 2001 and UT is 1999 but i havent personly looked it up
Shindo_Hikaru Posted August 7, 2006 Posted August 7, 2006 I am refering ot the cards support direct x versions, such as my current on supports Direct X 9c and my older one supports Direct X 8.0 some of my DX9 games do not work on the card due to its lack of DX9 support
awergh Posted August 7, 2006 Author Posted August 7, 2006 oh, well UT needs directX 7, AOE2 needs Directx 3 and Dplay 6.1looking a nvidia website says it supports Directx 8.1
awergh Posted September 3, 2006 Author Posted September 3, 2006 I changed motherboards recently but now Unreal Gold and Unreal Tournament Game of the Year Edition when run in DirectX 3d the frame rate is really low.Motherboard: IBM 6266G6ACeleron 700 MhzGeforce 4 MX 420 PCI256MB RAMWindows 98 SE
