I don't know where to put this post, so I decided here would be good. I want to access several PC's at my office with Remote Desktop Connection. I can get into my server and then another PC through the server's RDC. That makes things (video) really slow. How can I get into my other PC's directly from the internet? I assume that you assign the host PC a different port other than the standard RDC port and then access it by the domain name (or IP) and the new port number.

TIA

EDIT...

I found out how to change the port number http://support.microsoft.com/kb/306759/

I don't know how many times I've suggested this app on this forum, but Hamachi is just great for things like this. You can install it on all the computers you want to access as well as the PC you're accessing them from, and NOT open any ports at all and it will work seamlessly. Trust me on this one. Look at how many computers I'm running Hamachi on. That page shows their status (most of them are offline). But honestly, I've only been using this since January, and I'm obsessed with it. And everything is encrypted with 256-bit encryption from computer to computer. You just access the PCs with their Hamachi-assigned IPs. ;)

Give it a try and let us know how it goes! :D

If you can RDP into your server, why then can't you hit the workstations? I'm assuming there's a reason for the man-in-the-middle routine which would make these other recommendations problematic if you can't see the workstations.

Assuming you're using a VPN connection, if you can ping the workstations you should be able to RDP them as well since the required ports do not appear blocked. Depending on how it's setup, you may have to use FQDN's to resolve them.

I can get to the other PC's via RDC... It's just slow (especially video). I think this Himachi will do the trick. I have a little password problem right now. Mainly, I am constantly on the server remotely and sometimes I need to get to another PC for my Quickbooks. I know I can also VPN to the QB datafile. I've been using PC anywhere to get into QB, but like RDC much better. I also have several fun PC's that I would like to get into remotely, so I decided to ask here about how to do it.
