slipstreaming 6 boot disks into winxp pro

Men and Ladies of this fine forum:)

I attempted several keyword searches and came up empty on this one if its already posted , i am sorry.

It may be terminology that i am not familiar with, and the answer is right in front of me .

Oh well here goes!

I an trying to slipstream the 6 boot disks from the microsoft site onto an image ( any Image ) of windows ,

for use in re-installing windows on a freshly re-formatted hard drive(low level).

If this is an old subject please accept my apologies for not knowing how to "term" my search.

I know this can be done but it seems most subjects deal with driver packs and windows hotfixes and things of this nature. Is it possible that the boot disks are simply a collection of drivers ?

Pardon my lack of knowledge

Could someone bail me out on this one as i do not have a floppy drive that the boot disks seem to require?

I know what your talking about

You are trying to integrate the microsoft Boot floppy maker thingy that requires 6 blank floppys found here http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;DisplayLang=en

I got good news for you, You dont need to :)

Just copy your CD to a folder on the HDD and you can update XP with SP2 and Updatepacks (hotfixes), Addons then you can make the bootable ISO, all you need is nLIte--> http://www.nliteos.com/

Instructions

No need to integrate the boot files from the floppy, if you browse the Floppies you will see it has the same files that are on your NON-Botable CD, nLite will on the other hand make your XP CD bootable and you dont need to bother with the boot floppies any more. :thumbup

This belongs to the unattended Windows forum rather than XP forum.

The XP installation CD is bootable so forget about the floppies.

The MSFN Unattended Guide will tell you how to make a UACD, including how to make the CD bootable. You don't even have to use nLite, it's just an optional tool. It'd be better to learn how to do it manually first.
