patchworks
Well, i don't wanna be boring nor just uncostructive, but this proliferation of side Win9x unofficial upgrades project "distros" (this, lupus, 7years, JackHammer, etc.) is becoming a bit dispersive to me.Again, i suggest to take in consideration my Open Sourcing Windows 9x idea so, at least, patches and mods could be re-usable in other projects.Just my 0,01 € Edited July 27, 2007 by patchworks
celtish
@ Acheron et al Re Windows98 3rd EditionCould you please recap on this whole topiC? It's become very convoluted and difficult to follow! And I gather ...(1) this is a Dutch project - could it be translated into British English?(2) are we talking about Win98SE?(3) ISO is mentioned somewhere, is this mandatory? marxo
Obviously this project will not be finished, but discouraging other projects developers and users interested in the older projects is not a way to go...Although this project is probably halted I don't think that is a bad think to derivate from any OS and making it customized. Basically that is what slip-streamers do with NT's.
iWindoze
iWindoze, just to be clear.Last post was on Aug 23 2006, 07:02 PMSorry? I don't understand your question.Threads don't die until there is interest in them! Add that to board rules!Agreed! I often dig up old threads to check if there has been any progress made on the various subject matters. Also for when I am unable to try something out at the time I see if and must wait for a chance to try something on a spare box...--iWindoze
ohmss006
may i ask, what has happened precisely to the user wanting to make this project?do you reckon that he can acces the core of the operating system himself may i ask as well?
888
Interesting thread (didnt read the whole thing tho)However, since there is nothing new or exclusive (not available on SE or FE) in the "Third Edition" , just the cumulation of all updates hotfixes and patches, I don't get name?"Windows 98 SE with integrated updates" would be most appropiate name... marxo
However, since there is nothing new or exclusive...Just for me to know, what would you find exclusive?
888
However, since there is nothing new or exclusive...Just for me to know, what would you find exclusive?Features that appear in newer version, but aren't available in previous version, for example "internet sharing" available on Win98SE but not on Win98 original. That is 'exclusive' feature of Win98SE.Does this Win98 "TE" will have anything exclusive to its version onlY?Im pretty sure it won't.Hence its a compilation of patches, aka "service pack" rather than any new version of windows...
