I’m somewhat amazed.

Every year I reinstall Windows 98 First Edition on my Internet PC. Based on “My Documents” CDs that’s February, and, August.

Downloading all kinds of “stuff” on the web usually shows its effect on Windows 98 by sluggish movement.

Well, August is just a few days away, and to my surprise, the computer is performing excellent, and, I may skip the late summer cleanup.

I even ran a virus scan on my system and it found none!

Just something I wanted to share. B)

I haven't found the need to.

I started (Back in 1999) saving every program I needed on CDRs. So, when I need

anything, I pop in the Disk(s).

The only thing I'm planning to update (In which I downloaded already) is the 137 barrier.

However, the 1.5 GB Modification will be first, as soon as I purchase more memory. B)

You do realize that you won't be able to initialize more than 999,999 KB of that, right? Win9x's kernel cannot handle 1GB of RAM (1,048,576 KB). So, if you have 1.5GB of RAM, you'll only be able to use just shy of 1GB of it.

Save yourself some money, grab a copy of SE or XP Home Upgrade - if your system is able to handle 1GB of RAM, you should probably upgrade... or upgrade to 98SE.

I'll just throw the memory in the 98 SE Computer, and keep the 98 First Edition Computer @ 512 KB.

Wrong... I've used 2Gb before, with many programs open and swapfile off, never encountered out-of-memory errors. See some of my other posts regarding this issue.
