nitroshift Posted July 21, 2006 Posted July 21, 2006 I remember having the same problem a while ago, some files turned into folders ... Ended up giving them up and doing a clean install of windows
playsafe Posted July 21, 2006 Posted July 21, 2006 Once I dowloaded over 300MB of software in RAR format. After writing it on cd it turned into folder. I never got it to work. Niether the CD one Nor one on the hard disk.May be it has to do with some extension's association. It is just a wild guess though.@Blizzardmage1 - Please explain a little more. What OS u are using and weather the stuff (files) are gone or corrupt. What is the path of those files that went corrupt. Are there some files which are fine at any other drive or path?
Blizzardmage1 Posted July 21, 2006 Author Posted July 21, 2006 I have windows xp...at first it said my AOL and explorer and AIM was corrupt...then when I restarted it just said profile not found, logging onto temporary profile......for some reason my AOL was gone, but AIM/winamp/mp3 player stuff (no songs though) is still there...only song I have is the last song I heard on winamp b4 it had all the problems...
XL-DJK Posted July 21, 2006 Posted July 21, 2006 bet ya it's a trojan......... doesn't sound like something induced from OS...sounds like you have a problem
Shindo_Hikaru Posted July 21, 2006 Posted July 21, 2006 sounds like some bad program that crippled your system, ho was your system structure.I have two hard drive one (500 GB) dedicated Documents, one (36 GB Raptor) windows installation. The reason for this is to elimate the potential problems, such as what occured to you, if you do not have two drives then do thisOne Harddrive - create two partitions both NTFS, the size of the partitions will depend on your hard drive size and your installation of other programs. What is the current system configureation - Operating System - ( Home, Pro, etc) - Processer - hard drives - video - and all other hardware. - Any files compressed - Error specifics Your profile is corrupted Windows Cannot Load the Locally Stored Profile Your registry might be corrupted. The system has recovered from a serious error Please list the specific error you recive when it occured. and if applicable the code with it.
