Tiltianlc Posted July 15, 2006 Posted July 15, 2006 Is there any way in the settings for windows XP home to change it from American to Chineese, Or is there any way on the Home CD that i can edit it to install with that as the default (possibly by useing some of the unatteneded guide help)? If so or if you have any advice on it please let me know.
allen2 Posted July 15, 2006 Posted July 15, 2006 (edited) I don't know if there is a mui (multi user interface) pack for XP home. But if there is one that would be the way of doing what you want. Edited July 15, 2006 by allen2
Takeshi Posted July 15, 2006 Posted July 15, 2006 There isn't any setting you can change to alter the OS language. There're extra files in localised versions of XP so you cannot just edit the US En CD to change the lang. Even the boot files are different.Officially, there's no MUI pack for XP HE.
Tiltianlc Posted July 17, 2006 Author Posted July 17, 2006 Ok, thanks for the help... this is turning into a big headache because microsft wants 325.00 for the operating system.
Esquire Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 (edited) English version (both Home Edition and Professional) has built-in support for Chinese/Japanese/Korean, including IME, without having to change operating system or GUI. Have you enabled East Asian Languages support?MUI only supports English Windows XP Professional so you have no option but to reinstall using a Chinese version of Windows XP if you indeed want a language change. redxii Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 You'll have to buy a Chinese XP Home or get XP Pro and become a volume license customer (probably very expensive). MUI packs aren't available for retail sale.
