My sister's friend completly borked her system (I found 12 trojans among various other viruses and adware) so that it would not boot. I installed winXP Home on an old computer I had laying around and added my sister's friend's hard drive as a secondary. I ran the spyware and anti-virus softare and cleaned it pretty good, but now I cannot access the files in their user account - it says that access is denied. Is there any way to remove the restrictions on the files so I can get them off the drive ad re-install windows on it? If more inso is needed, please ask. Thanks.

Thanks for the help. I actually booted off the winXP install disk and rebuilt the boot sector. I was then able to boot into the OS. I cleaned all the crud out and now it is working well. Thanks again.

By the way at last count there were over 250 viruses and over 105 spyware. This is what happens when a computer is hooked into DSL without any firewall, virus protection, or any updates to Windows. I cleaned the system and installed AVG, Spybot S&D, and ZoneAlarm.

It must have had some protection then, I've had more than that in the length of time it takes to download sp2 if I leave the machine directly connected without any protection. At work I've removed more than 60000 virii from a single machine and my record for spyware on a single machine is over 40000.
