  1. Thanks for that link. That is exactly what I need. I have been researching a lot, and I have figured out what I need to do. I need two scripts: one to create and collect the form data and email it to an email address on the server side, without using the user's email program (no "mailto"). The second script is the validation that will not allow the user to send the form data until they type in the letters in the image. What I need help with is finding the form script, combining the two, and making it into a web page. If anyone can help me with this it would be appreciated. Thanks.
  2. First off I am sorry if this topic has been discussed before. I have searched for hours, and found very little for what I want to do. I am creating a really simple web site for my dad so he can sell some stuff he has. I have been designing it in Frontpage, and I still need to find a cheap or free host. But what I am in need of help with is creating a page to contact an email, but have some sort of image validation before allowing the user to submit the email. I am pretty sure I know how to create a form that will send the message to an email address, but I want to protect that email from spambots and such. I have found a couple scripts on the internet that will (I think) create the image and what not, but I have no idea how to implement it into the page. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
  3. So I played around in Outlook with Contacts, and its pretty cool. I made a new contact in my dad's account, logged out, logged in to my mom's account, and checked to see if that contact was there. It was! So apparently all I set out to do is now done. Thanks for the help. I hope the info I gave to lingk helped.
  4. All right, I have both accounts sharing the same main file. Both now have identical folders and emails, and update in tandem. Now I need to figure out how to share contacts. I looked at how they work, and it seems to be better than the address book. I just need to find out how to make one account share the contacts in the other account, and how to back them up. I will be investigating this, but comments are welcome. @lingk: If you are using Windows XP, the file that all the mail is stored in is fairly easy to find, its just buried. Go into My Computer, and if you do not have it enabled you need to be able to see hidden files and folders. In My Computer go to Tools > Folder Options. Click on the View tab. Under Hidden Files and Folders select the 'show hidden files and folders' radio button. Hit apply and get back to My Computer. Go to C: and go into Documents and Settings. Go into the account folder that has the email you want to move. Now you will need to double click Local Settings (should be gray/transparent because it is hidden), go to Application Data, then Microsoft, then Outlook. There should be a file in there named 'outlook', and is a ".pst" file. Depending on the amount of emails the size could be large or small. One backup pst file I made from college was almost 200mb. Copy that file to the desktop (or if you know how, directly to the desktop of the user account you want the emails moved to) and log out and log in to the other account. Now, if the new account already has been used and emails have been received, you will need to import the pst file you just recovered. I would just import because it is easier than replacing the current file. Start up Outlook, set it up if needed, then go to File, Import. Import the pst file, it is fairly simple. I believe that if you just keep the default values it will import and merge the emails from the other account into the new one. Hope that helps. Post any questions if anything is not clear. Anyone else correct me if I am wrong, or if this is not what you are looking for.
  5. I'll have to look into Outlook Contacts. Never heard of it before. Can you give me a little more information about it? I can point both accounts to one pst file, and use filters to get the mail there, but how do I share one inbox? Some mail will not be filtered to the pst file, so it will be in the inbox of one account and not in the other.
  6. We have a main email account provided by our ISP. My question is how do I set up Outlook 2003 to share that one email between my two parents accounts in Windows XP? I did it before, but some things did not work properly, and I did it a while ago and forgot what I did. I need to archive all incoming emails into a .pst file (or something else that would work), and share one address book. Both of my parents need to be able to access the same old emails and the address book in each of their accounts. I have some old .pst files that I need to import and move to the one shared .pst. I also have some separate address books that need to be merged into one shared address book. Thanks for any help, and sorry if this a common question.
  7. Pretty stupid. OK, it was in the Uninstall list, but then why is there so much info out there about changing registry settings and all that? I guess everyone is having all kinds of problems with this. I personally never use Explorer, exept to access my college websites. I think I will wait until Microsoft releases the finished version. Thanks for the help.
  8. I installed Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2 on a computer in my home, and after my dad used it for few months he decided that it wasn't any good. It wasn't loading pages correctly, and it was timing out while loading pages. So I tried to re-install IE6, by downloading the small (around 400 Kb) file off of Microsoft's web site. But every time I tried to run it it said that there was a newer version installed. So I researched and did the registry hack manually to bring the version below 6, and make it think that it wasn't installed, but it still would not install. So I looked on these forums and saw a post that said to use WinXP Manager to set the version and then install the older Internet Explorer. I used the program to set the version and was able to run the install file from microsoft's site, and IE6 intalled. But either the IE6 install, or something that WinXP Manager did, messed up some DLL's, because when I rebooted the computer I got three message dialogues, for three different .exe's, that all said: "The procedure entry point AssocGetPercievedType could not be located in the dynamic link library SHLWAPI.dll." All three dialouges had an OK button, which I pressed. Then a fourth box came up that said: "The Logon User Interface DLL msgina.dll failed to load. Contact your admistrator to replace the DLL or restore the original DLL." It then had a button that said restart. To get the computer to start I had to press F8 and use a restore point (that was made when I first ran WinXP Manager). What is corrupting those DLL's? Is it happening when I am using WinXP Manager to change the version of IE in the registry, or is it happening when IE 6 intalls? I tried to install IE6 from the Windows Install disk, but for some reason (I think because it has service pack 1a not 2) the file IEXPLORE.EXE is not on it. Is there any other way to revert to IE6, or am I stuck with upgrading to newer Beta versions of IE7 untill they release the finished program?
  9. Thats good to know. I have also looked at the log files and noticed a lot of blocked attemps. Pretty cool. As for dial up and smoothwall I have read that it has a hard time with PCI (Win-) modems and USB modems. I am using an old Boca Tidalwave V.90 modem with a serial plug on it. I just plugged that in to the computer, installed an old video card, a NIC card, and some RAM and smoothwall installed and used the dialup. I use smoothwall as my primary internet access. Thanks for the replies. For the person that needs help with smoothwall; I can try, but I can't promise that I''ll be able to help.
  10. I use Smoothwall to connect to the internet (using dialup) over my home network. I was wondering if my computer is really safe(in case someone gets through the Smoothwall firewall) since the firewall on my computer considers the network a safezone. If anyone has used or is using Smoothwall can you tell me if it is really safe to have it hooked into my home network.
  11. Thanks for the help. I actually booted off the winXP install disk and rebuilt the boot sector. I was then able to boot into the OS. I cleaned all the crud out and now it is working well. Thanks again. By the way at last count there were over 250 viruses and over 105 spyware. This is what happens when a computer is hooked into DSL without any firewall, virus protection, or any updates to Windows. I cleaned the system and installed AVG, Spybot S&D, and ZoneAlarm.
  12. My sister's friend completly borked her system (I found 12 trojans among various other viruses and adware) so that it would not boot. I installed winXP Home on an old computer I had laying around and added my sister's friend's hard drive as a secondary. I ran the spyware and anti-virus softare and cleaned it pretty good, but now I cannot access the files in their user account - it says that access is denied. Is there any way to remove the restrictions on the files so I can get them off the drive ad re-install windows on it? If more inso is needed, please ask. Thanks.
  13. The drivers fixed it. Not sure why, because the old ones came from Creative's site, and were working fine until a few weeks ago, even with the object bar installed. Don't know. Thanks for the advice anyway. -Erick
  14. When I left click my mouse on the desktop and the menu pops up a strange buzzing noise comes out of my speakers. Also I have Stardock Objectdock at the top of my screen and when I move my mouse over it and the icons magnify and de-magnify there is a ripping sound that comes out of my speakers. A noise also appears when a small info popup appears when I hover the cursor over like a taskbar icon. The noises aren't too loud, but at normal volume it is noticable. When I was playing my game last night, during the loading, every time the progress bar moved there was a little buzzing that came out of the speakers. I have a few guesses as to what the problem could be but I just wanted some more input. I have a Creative Sound Blaster Live! sound card, a brand new Sony DRU-810A, brand new 500W power supply, 1.5Gb Ram, Athlon XP 2200+, and a msi motherboard. I have the new drivers for the motherboard, and I believe the drivers for the sound card are new. I think that either my sound card is physically bad, or needs newer drivers. Or my wireless mouse is interfering with the sound card. Or my hard drives are finally giving up; they have been in use for about 5 years now. I'm not sure, but since it was doing it when my game was loading makes me lean towards the failing hard drives. Any help would be appreciated. -Erick
  15. OK, sorry for setting off all of your alarms. Just excited about getting a free copy of XP Pro. Thanks again.
