June 21, 200620 yr Hi,can a HFSLIPped W2K-CD (with all new patches etc.) be used to update or repair an older W2K installation?-> Booting from the CD an reinstalling Windows "=repair".Are the files beeing updated?Before I smash up my old W2K installation I would like to know what will happen ;-)
June 21, 200620 yr It may work but it may fail too. The worst I got was that WMP10 (and 9) was missing on Windows XP after a repair install but I wouldn't experiment with this if the system is too important.
June 21, 200620 yr I have done it successfully on several occasions - just make sure the CD you make does NOT have a winnt.sif file, or you won't be able to do the in-place upgrade. The CD restores all system files to the ver's on the CD, so add-ons that have replaced them will get "restored" aka; MP10 will not work - just re-install the tweaks from the svcp[ack.inf
