hey!

if i install windows xp sp2 with no media player and with no internet explorer and then use a lite windows media package to view WMV files in firefox do i need to "keep windows media player compatibility" because i didn't select that and now i can't view .wmv in firefox

and there are two packages with media player lite, whats the best?

"Windows Media Lite" from http://www.codecguide.com

or

Media Player Classic and the WMP10 Runtimes from http://ksphere.free.fr/public/codecslite/

anyone knows???

You don't need to select that option.

I always remove this compatibility thing and in fact, I'm more able to play wmv files than many people using regulars version of XP.

All this because of titou2k which owns the second website.

Btw there's a problem with this host (free.fr) : it may corrupts your downloads, especially when their servers are under a high load and you are using a download manager which is able to split your download into several pieces to download faster (you will get a corruption at the beginning of each one of these pieces).

So, else download using the rapidshare mirror, else check the integrity of the downloaded file with 7-zip for instance.

thanks for your replay, i don't have fddshow install and i never did!

i am sorry but maybe that wasn't the error message i was getting, because i tried again and the error i get when i try to view a website with a wmv video is:

NPDSPLAY (window title)

"can not create DirectShow Player"

it's not fddshow, its "directshow", anyone knows?

thanks!!!
