June 3, 200620 yr hey!if i install windows xp sp2 with no media player and with no internet explorer and then use a lite windows media package to view WMV files in firefox do i need to "keep windows media player compatibility" because i didn't select that and now i can't view .wmv in firefoxand there are two packages with media player lite, whats the best? "Windows Media Lite" from http://www.codecguide.comorMedia Player Classic and the WMP10 Runtimes from http://ksphere.free.fr/public/codecslite/anyone knows??? Edited June 3, 200620 yr by 212121
June 3, 200620 yr You don't need to select that option.I always remove this compatibility thing and in fact, I'm more able to play wmv files than many people using regulars version of XP.All this because of titou2k which owns the second website.Btw there's a problem with this host (free.fr) : it may corrupts your downloads, especially when their servers are under a high load and you are using a download manager which is able to split your download into several pieces to download faster (you will get a corruption at the beginning of each one of these pieces). So, else download using the rapidshare mirror, else check the integrity of the downloaded file with 7-zip for instance.
June 4, 200620 yr Have you put http://ksphere.free.fr/public/codecslite/F...a%20Plugins.rar in the plugins folder of FF ?
June 17, 200620 yr It shouldn't use ffdshow but WMV codecs present in SYSTEM32. Open ffdshow properties and disable WMV, like this:And maybe disable the other WMV.
June 20, 200620 yr Author where did that come from???sorry i dont even know what fddshow is!thanks for your reply
June 20, 200620 yr This is main "video configuration" window for ffdshow. You can get it with this command : rundll32.exe ffdshow.ax,configureAre you able to get this window/do you have a ffdshow.ax file in SYSTEM32 ?And, have you used TTPack or WindowsMediaLite from ksphere.free.fr ?PS: for infos on ffshow, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FFDShow
June 20, 200620 yr Author thanks for your replay, i don't have fddshow install and i never did!i am sorry but maybe that wasn't the error message i was getting, because i tried again and the error i get when i try to view a website with a wmv video is:NPDSPLAY (window title)"can not create DirectShow Player"it's not fddshow, its "directshow", anyone knows?thanks!!!
June 24, 200620 yr Have you checked this : http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=297172 ?The idea is to remove as much of WMP as possible and then to reinstall a codec pack.
