Hey people, its been ages sincei posted in here, but thats life. Anyway I have a problem with my XP operating system. I just installed the Internet Information Services so i can do a test installation of a forum package. This way I can do test of released mods and stuff on the local server on my p.c

The problem is that it wont load the test site http://127.0.0.1/ it keeps on cannot find server. The Site is turned on via the IIS control panels and I have looked at the dependencies that i needs to run in the Services control panel. Everything seems fine there.

What could be the issue here?

I am Running

Windows XP Service Pack 1 512MB ram, 60G HDD. Pentium 4 - 1.7GIGHits.

Have you got a third-party firewall ?

Check if webserver is really active with that command from cmd prompt

netstat -an | find "LISTENING"

and check if :80 if listening.

Make sure you havn't any other program listen the port 80. (Like yahoo messenger for example.)

Yeah, check what Sonic said first. Also make sure you have files in the root web folder, and you have a default file picked (or directory browsing turned on). AND of course make sure the service is started. All I'm sure you've tried but just gotta ask.

here we go , this is what it says.

TCP 127.0.0.1:80 127.0.0.1:2942 CLOSE_WAIT

It's not possible. the

| find "LISTENING"

will only display LISTENING state not CLOSE_WAIT/ETABLIDHED/TIME_WAIT ...

For me I have that post-10366-1149765500_thumb.png

21 is my ftp server

80 is my webserver

135 & 445 & 139 are for windows sharing file (if I remember)

221 is vnc server

456 is for p2p

3389 is rdp server

25 & 110 is hotpopper

1025 is for upnp (if I remember)

14147 is my ftp server admin interface

You know all :P

edit: If you havn't 80 in LISTENING state, not process/server is running on tcp por 80 so not webserver running.
