Super Windows XP SP1 CD (Post 2)

Recommended Posts

Hi @ all,

I have been going though the steps described in this excellent and precise guide, however failed to burn the data onto cd as Roxio does not permit $OEM$ as folder name, insteads suggests to flat it to _OEM_, which perhaps would destroy all the efforts. Anyone a clue on this?

Cheers,

Kai

Hmmm... I noticed that you can recognize installshiel setup by the text on the start and I tried -R to two of those. Neither one didn't make setup.iss to the C:\WINDOWS. Where's the problem, or how can I recognize those setup types if those aren't installshields even it reads on the start? :/

Which 2 applications were they? I will try them out for you.

Coming up on the site later:

Adobe Reader 6.0

ZoneAlarm Free 3.7

Norton AV 2003

DivX 5.0.5

AIM 5.2

Sun Java VM 1.4.1

Nero 6

and maybe WinRAR 3.20 (need to do another test just to be sure about something)

No go: Trillian :)

I would greatly appreciate instructions for Adobe Reader, Nero 6, and WinRAR. These 3 items would be great to have when you install windows.

Just thought i'd add something:

While doing all this, I looked into what Services Windows starts automatically. Depending on what you do with your machine (i.e. gaming), you can disable quite a few of these services to free up system resources. I takes some time to figure out what services you may want to disable, but once you know what you want to turn off, you can creat a second .reg file (I called mine KillServices.reg). Simply locate the services in Regedit by using the find command (they are located in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\), disable the service, and copy the registry key to a text file.

My file looks like this:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

Which 2 applications were they? I will try them out for you.

Uhm, I figured out the problem :) You needed to extract those packages first and then run the setup.exe with -R flag. Sorry for bothering such a easy thing but that just didn't come to my mind.

This idea just came to my head suddenly and now those setups worked fine.

You need to install mouseware by this way.

Nice work and big thx guy but you forgot one thing:

"Start"=dword:00000000 = boot

"Start"=dword:00000001 = system

"Start"=dword:00000002 = automatic

"Start"=dword:00000003 = enabled

"Start"=dword:00000004 = disabled

ISOBuster use Inno Setup :)

you can use:

isobustersetup.exe /SILENT

or

isobustersetup.exe /VERYSILENT

Bye Laus

Tried them already, I think they disabled those switches.

Does unattended install create your account ready for computer also? Or do you have to create it afterwards?

If install creates the account you can add your quicklaunch shortcuts also :) If it's possible with the account issue?

Does anyone know silent installation for powerstrip? It ain't installshield and /S flag doesn't help :rolleyes:

You can create an account at the Welcome to Windows XP screen (this is in-between WinXP setup and the batch). Then it will log you in with the username created and run the batch.

To enable Welcome to Windows XP, this value should be used in [unattended]: UnattendSwitch="no"

If you use Yes, then it will skip that part and use the default Admin account instead.

I know the in-between bit is a bit of a stop gap and defeats the whole point of it being unattended, but I'm still looking into ways of getting it to create my own user account and run the batch once its logged in.
