Hello;

I just purchased a computer with Media Center 2005 on it with a Hauppauge WinTV PCI II (26xxx) TV Tuner card and remote. I have an Intel Dual Core 3GHz Processor; 2GB RAM and 250GB Hard Drive; and Sound Blaster XFI Sound card and NVidia GeForce 6800 video card. The technician that works for the place where I purchased my computer doesn't know anything about Windows Media Center :( and I only know a tiny bit.

I recorded a TV program. When I went to watch it I used the remote to fast forward and pushed play then the movie stopped as if I had paused it but I knew it wasn't because I could hear a person say a word or two and the image tried to move (hope this makes sense). I don't know if it is the remote, the tuner card or the software or encoder.

I contacted the technician again to ask where I could find out what decoder I had installed and he sent me to microsofts web page and told me to download Windows XP Video Decoder Check Up Utility. I did and ran it and a box came up and it has Intervideo Video decoder; Nero Video decoder; Nero DVD decoder and Cyberlink Video/SP decoder. The first three hade a circle with a red X next to them and the last one had a check mark. Does this mean I have the Cyberlink Video/SP decoder?

What decoders am I suppose to have to run the tv tuner card? Also, when I go to copy the show to a dvd the format page only lists DVD data but not Video DVD. Why? How can I correct this problem? According to Microsofts web site the Video DVD is suppose to come up on the format screen.

ANY/ALL help will be deeply appreciated! I'm about ready to send the computer back and call it a day.

Can someone tell me exactly what I need to make this all work. Also, does anyone know about the Hauppauge tv tuner card?

Thanks

Edie

and not only that, but I first noticed that wierd problem on my Linksys media extender. It seems to happen only on occasion on my pc itself. Some of the options in some programs like System Mechanic and Diskeeper 10 cause it to 'stutter' like that. Sometimes it takes a good 5 mins for the movie to continue playing.

I just push the fast forward every 2 secs or so instead of in quick succession.

A defrag ain't a bad idea either.
