  1. I've probably written about this situation before but I will continue to write about it until I get the answers I desperately need I need to know technical stuff I saw a HP and that system had the DVD Video as an option on the format page, the person hooked up the computer and didn't buy anything special to get the option. Is there a way to determine if what I have is indeed MCE 2005 and not 2004? I need to know everything possible about this Windows Media Center Edition. Am I correct about this ... the decoder is needed to get the tv to work on my monitor and Microsoft doesn't send them out with the product? WMCE 2005 has the ability to burn data and video DVDs without buying a special program to do so? Where, and with whom can I speak with, to find out all I need to know about WMCE? Thank you for your time and any/all help
  2. Hello; I just purchased a computer with Media Center 2005 on it with a Hauppauge WinTV PCI II (26xxx) TV Tuner card and remote. I have an Intel Dual Core 3GHz Processor; 2GB RAM and 250GB Hard Drive; and Sound Blaster XFI Sound card and NVidia GeForce 6800 video card. The technician that works for the place where I purchased my computer doesn't know anything about Windows Media Center and I only know a tiny bit. I recorded a TV program. When I went to watch it I used the remote to fast forward and pushed play then the movie stopped as if I had paused it but I knew it wasn't because I could hear a person say a word or two and the image tried to move (hope this makes sense). I don't know if it is the remote, the tuner card or the software or encoder. I contacted the technician again to ask where I could find out what decoder I had installed and he sent me to microsofts web page and told me to download Windows XP Video Decoder Check Up Utility. I did and ran it and a box came up and it has Intervideo Video decoder; Nero Video decoder; Nero DVD decoder and Cyberlink Video/SP decoder. The first three hade a circle with a red X next to them and the last one had a check mark. Does this mean I have the Cyberlink Video/SP decoder? What decoders am I suppose to have to run the tv tuner card? Also, when I go to copy the show to a dvd the format page only lists DVD data but not Video DVD. Why? How can I correct this problem? According to Microsofts web site the Video DVD is suppose to come up on the format screen. ANY/ALL help will be deeply appreciated! I'm about ready to send the computer back and call it a day. Can someone tell me exactly what I need to make this all work. Also, does anyone know about the Hauppauge tv tuner card? Thanks Edie
