Strange broken red lines on screen pci-e x600

Hi, can anyone help I have just installed an ati 256MB pci-e video card into a new system.

The problem im having with it is that i get broken red lines on the post boot screen, on the bios settings screen and also all graphics are corrputed in any games i play but *not* in any game movies for instance the intro movie of call of duty 2 plays fine as does the movies in battlefield 2 (has the latest v1.22 patch) the other thing is windows display is fine..any ideas as to what i might have done wrong.

any help would be greatly appreciated thanks.

systems specs:-

ATI Radeon 256 MB PCI E Video Graphics X600 Dell

Western Digital 160GB SATA Harddrive

AMD 64 Bit 3400 CPU (not overclocked)

Mainboard nvidia graphics 1GB DDR

dvd re-writer

soundblaster live 5.1 soundcard used only for the midi/game port

Audigy 2 soundcard

Q-tec 650w power supply

also tried the latest ati drivers aND A previous version for games but still no luck.

refund the card

also take the card out and put it back in

i have tried reseating but still no luck :(

Do you think its faulty or just not compatible?.

well it has to be compatible sinc eits pci-e

do u have the latest drivers?

yes i do but they would n't affect the way the screen looks in bios settings and at post boot would they?

i have just requested to send it back for a refund.

ya ur right. refund is the best way then. and what is the idle temp?

erm i not sure, if u mean of the motherboard its about 34 degrees centigrade but as for the gfx card i have no idea :blushing:
