shell and explorer

Can the shell and explorer from xp be used in windows 2000? This way I will get the icons and task bar in xp to work in windows 2000. Is there a better way? I like the icons from vista better, I would rather heve these.

Oh, while I'm here I like mac sounds. Where can I D/L the wave sounds of mac? How do I convert wave to wa?

1. for shell i think there some feature can't be used in win2k (xp has totally new feature, noticed the new webview) but if you want to try don't forget to copy shell32.dll, comctl32.dll, comdlg32.dll (forgot it but it kind like that)

2. icon thing? shell icon? i have a hacked shell32.dll for win2k usp5.1 that contain all xp icon (from xp shell32.dll)

3. sound? do you ever use sound scheme? i didn't really care about sound scheme

Very nice can this be used in making the cd? As far as sounds I like the mac sounds. Very sexy. You mentioned some hacked files, do these go into making the cd?

Ever try XPze on 2k? It works. Before you ask, you can slipstream this with hfslip too.

Got a question for you. If I turn off prefetch in winwows 2000 would it help lower memory usage?

yes you can cab it, but for saffer i think you could use your OEM folder

OEM\$\System32\ <- this is where hacked shell32.dll must place

oh yeah i have a hacked version of browseui.dll (windows toolbar things) from winxp but it still incomplete (missing the back,forward, search and i get a purple things on big icon)

and of course hacked version of ntoskrnl.exe (windows boot logo) that mimic xp boot logo (not exactly mimic)

i plan to pack it into 1 project but i need some help editing the gfx (f*ck windows with 256color/8bit color with RLE compression, why they didn't make it 16bit )

yes i plan to use vista icon too but the problem i didn't really know about icon line-up in vista (and i didn't have the shell32.dll things)

for the present my pack consist of :

- shell32.dll (xp icon),

- ntoskrnl.exe (xp like boot logo),

- msgina.dll (new logo for login box, xp like),

- sysdm.cpl (monitor image in system properties)

- explorer.exe (taskbar menu and some string in windows explorer)

- browseui.dll (xp toolbar icon, missing some and dither in big icon)

- display.cpl (monitor for wallpaper, screensaver, setting dialog)

i will soon try to use XPIZE on win2k if it works then i will packing up my w2k hack pack
