EXE installer for WGA

Featured Replies

I found an EXE installer for the Windows Genuine Advantage Validation Tool (KB892130). It can be downloaded here.

URL: http://www.download.windowsupdate.com/msdownload/update/v3-19990518/cabpool/windowsxp-kb892130-enu-x86_7e1189ce89fb0c693cad6432a4c2f982dcea49a0.exe

Is it compatible with HFSLIP? Inside, it looks just like any other hotfix. Plus, if people include this instead of that CAB file, we can remove some lines in the script :).

HFSLIP doesn't support this hotfix at present but it can be made to work.

The lines for LegitCheckControl.cab won't be removed unless the file you're linking to is multilingual.

Why don't I try comparing the DLL in the two files? There is no other version of LegitCheckControl.cab, AFAIK.

Edit: Comparison using FSUM complete. Two DLLs are identical. See reports.

Regarding the INF file - The language displayed for WGA does not depend on the DLL/installer/INF. What might Setup mess with if the INF file was installed on a non-English system?

Edited by Super-Magician

I'm talking about the inf. HFSLIP would make Windows setup install that inf so if it contains language-specific stuff it might not take on every system.

Just for info : this HF instals witout issues on XP PRO, HOME and CORP SP2 FRENCH

Thanks for the feedback, EmRoD! :D One odd thing about the naming of this hotfix is that "ENU" and "x86" are reversed compared to other MS hotfixes for XP .

Anyone here ready for MS Patch Tuesday tomorrow :thumbup?
