Patrick.G81 Posted March 19, 2006 Posted March 19, 2006 I'm having a problem and could use some help. After my computer goes thru the startup process, it freezes at the blue windows xp screen and won't continue to the login screen. I can't get to my user account login or get access to anything. This also happens when I do this in safe mode. Can someone please help. Appreciate it.
cluberti Posted March 19, 2006 Posted March 19, 2006 Can you boot to the Windows XP CD and do a repair installation?
Patrick.G81 Posted March 19, 2006 Author Posted March 19, 2006 I can't boot to Windows XP cd. And now I can't seem to get back to safe mode either. I did just remember that the last time my computer was working properly, it did a system update before shutting down. Only problem was that it didn't shut off properly, it froze after the update was complete. Not sure if that helps or explains anything.
cluberti Posted March 19, 2006 Posted March 19, 2006 A little, although usually the Windows update installation is usually a red herring (it's the act of shutting down/rebooting that triggers it, not the installation of the patch - it's just that the patch was installed requiring the reboot). Why does the Windows XP CD not boot?
LLXX Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 This might sound a bit strange, but is your processor's cooling system in good condition? Freezing can sometimes be caused by overheating processors.
