BoardBabe
I have a custom mylogonui.exe that's copied to system32 by placing in $OEM$\$$\System32. By adding mylogonui.exe with the below regkey at T-12, will it apply at the very first "loading personal settings" screen that appears right before eg. WPI launches?HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\UIHostedit: and should I apply to above key or HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\UIHostHKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\UIHost Edited March 6, 2006 by BoardBabe
Dumpy Dooby
It would apply it as soon as you put it in the registry. You can try it on a running version of Windows. Change that key and then do Winkey+L. You should see your new logonUI. So to answer your question, yes it should up and going by the time WPI runs (unless, of course, you have something that changes the value back to default). Personally, I replace logonui.exe on my XP disc so I don't have to worry about any registry stuff.
BoardBabe
I thought of that yeh, but I'd like to keep the original so it can be uninstalled.
GeneralIx
I think I may have a better method that involves slightly less hassle to replace your logonui. This is the link to my solution, I hope it will prove helpful.Greets,General Ix
