Block Microsoft Messenger in my network

Hi @ll;

I got a new router and I need block the microsoft messenger to been use in my local network. I got couple of employees that only do chat. I did a netstat -o and checked that the main port is the 1863. there is a another ports o somebody knows the domain name for the messenger because i can block domains also I got a D-Link DI-804HV

what about you remove microsoft messenger from the pc and restrict them to install programs? we have this kind of system on my work and it works like a sharm

How can I restrict them to install it? I got a peer-to-peer server I tried to do it with Local policies but wasn't god.

Are you running Active Directory? If so, there are options in Group Policy to prevent Messenger from being used even if it's installed.
