So, my friend has a wireless router in which he has a laptop with a built in wireless driver. And when hes online, it says that the signal strength is good. But for some reason, his AIM always signs off then right back on automatically. And ive reinstalll that. So the wireless is shutting down and coming right back on quickly? Do i need to upgrade the wireless router firmware?

Thanks,

Matrix

If the connections get's dropped you'd see the little wireless icon in the status bar go red or something. Do you have the proper network set up? ad-hoc, or infrastructure? It's also possible that it's the server. When I had dial-up and used aim, and I got disconnected, it never signed me off. Could be a virus, scan the system.

open command prompt and type

ping <ip of router> -n 100 > c:\ping.txt

this will ping the router 100 times, and export it to a text file

now upgrade the firmware and open command prompt and type

ping <ip of router> -n 100 > c:\ping2.txt

now compare the contents of the files and see if there is a difference :)

thanks
