matrix0978 Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 So, my friend has a wireless router in which he has a laptop with a built in wireless driver. And when hes online, it says that the signal strength is good. But for some reason, his AIM always signs off then right back on automatically. And ive reinstalll that. So the wireless is shutting down and coming right back on quickly? Do i need to upgrade the wireless router firmware? Thanks,Matrix
CptMurphy Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 If the connections get's dropped you'd see the little wireless icon in the status bar go red or something. Do you have the proper network set up? ad-hoc, or infrastructure? It's also possible that it's the server. When I had dial-up and used aim, and I got disconnected, it never signed me off. Could be a virus, scan the system.
eyeball Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 open command prompt and typeping <ip of router> -n 100 > c:\ping.txtthis will ping the router 100 times, and export it to a text filenow upgrade the firmware and open command prompt and typeping <ip of router> -n 100 > c:\ping2.txtnow compare the contents of the files and see if there is a difference thanks
