Just curious if anyone knows about problems when upgrading from a single to a dual core chip (same type). Is it required to reinstall Windows when changing a CPU in this fashion? Does it require a new HAL?

whenever you change a major hardware piece such as a cpu or mobo, chances are that you will need to reinstall windows. it may work, may not, if it does work then you will prolly have some crashes due to not resinstalling windows. i recommend just reinstalling windows.

as far as i know, at least with the AMD version, the product is plug and play. I went to a conference where the machine had been built on a single core Opteron and they shut it down, then popped in a dual core, booted it back up, and went into task manager and showed both.

most likely it's the same situation with Intel, but I can't speak for the intels.

for amd most mobos you can upgrade easily to dual core, some of the realy old ones need a bios update to work but that not too hard to do.

intel on the other hand needed a voltage change i belive, so you have to check your motherboard maker to ensure compatibility

i would suspect problems if you removed multi proceser support in nlite but otherwise......
