maltenrazer Posted February 17, 2006 Posted February 17, 2006 (edited) ok, i have successfully installed a unattended Windows XP SP2 installation.I created an unattended installation CD because i wanted the windows installation in one small partition by its self, and Documents and settings & Programs files in another separate partition by themselves. C drive is where windows lives...D drive is a extra hard drive to store stuff...E drive is where program files, document and settings live....Everything works fine..its perfect.....well almost perfect....IE is what is bugging me.At first internet explorer worked fine, no problems at all. then all of a sudden it decided it didn't want to load any web pages. its as if IE cant connect to the net, everything else can, it ain't blocked by my fire wall either. When i open IE it just sits there as if it was trying to load something, the screen is just blank and the little windows icon at the top right is moving which i think it indicates that it is loading... that is all it does... when try to go to any web page it does exactly the same.here is a screen shot:Internet options:i have tried everything i can think of... reinstall.. uninstall... install IE 7 beta.... sfc /scannow... to no avail.. what i do know is this.... IE has not been hijacked or anything cus iv checked with the program hijackthis.. Briar Posted February 17, 2006 Posted February 17, 2006 try setting your homepage. on the forth pic down, it shows your internet options, and your homepage is not set. that might work. clint
maltenrazer Posted February 17, 2006 Author Posted February 17, 2006 i typed in www.google.co.uk then clicked "use current" and it gets replaced by "res://C:\WINDOWS\system32\shdoclc.dll/navcancl.htm" ... any idea wot this maybe?
blinkdt Posted February 25, 2006 Posted February 25, 2006 Is this behavior occuring on a fresh Windows XP install? Or is it happening on a machine where IE7 beta has been installed and uninstalled? There is a simple reg tweak fix for that behavior if the later (IE shows a white screen when selecting a favorite link, for example) but I will be damned if I can relocate it, sorry. It is documented by MicrosoftAt first internet explorer worked fine, no problems at all. then all of a sudden it decided it didn't want to load any web pages I'm guessing that's about the time you began to fiddle with IE7 beta?
InViSibLe Gr Posted February 25, 2006 Posted February 25, 2006 i typed in www.google.co.uk then clicked "use current" and it gets replaced by "res://C:\WINDOWS\system32\shdoclc.dll/navcancl.htm" ... any idea wot this maybe?"use current" adds the page you are in the time you have press it as homepageto set the homepage you have to type the address as you did and then click ok on the bottom...
exrcizn Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 InViSibLe Gr is right - enter your start page but don't click Use Current. However, I doubt this will fix your problem if you can't get to any website by typing the address. Sounds like spyware to me.
