I have a problem here, i have a vaio laptop and i formated and installed xp professional. everything was fine and i installed all vaio drivers like a charm but, now when i add a device like bluetooth radios, virtual cd-roms(daemon tools) i have to tell windows to search in the c:/windows/inf folder becouse it never fins drivers in automatic mode..... any suggestions????

Check to see if you have the value of "%SystemRoot%\inf" Under the following registry key.

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\DevicePath

I am connecting generic devices, microsoft have a generic bluetooth driver, that always worked, now i have to specify the device manager to search in %SystemRoot%\inf

No, i installed from hologram cd (original XP Pro SP2 Oem)
