[Question] Unable to see Security Tab in the properties dialog

Hi,

I am facing a strange problem since few days. I have NTFS partition so when I click the properties right click menu item I am unable to see the Securtiy Tab for any file or folder in the dialog displayed, this is indeed strange. It seems like some crictical service is unable to start but I am not sure which one it is?

Can soemone please help me in getting the Security Tab back in the properties dialog?

If you right click > My Network Places, then right click > LAN Properties

see if file and print sharing are listed.

If not, click on install, then select either Client or Service (cant remember which one) and install file and print sharing.

This may be the resolution, but may not, give it a go. See if anyone else has any ideas

open a folder, under tools select folder options click view tab scroll all the way to the bottom of the advanced settings window and uncheck use simple file sharing.

But I am still surprised how it got set up at the first place, could it be the result of using one of tweaking tools available??

That box being checked is the default when installing windows XP.

This options can configure when you share your first folder.

You can choose Simple sharing or normal sharing (with Security tab enabled)
