strider_D_3000 Posted June 15, 2003 Posted June 15, 2003 how do i get rid of past items under customize notification in task bar and start menu properties hide inactive icons ->customize ?
MSNwar Posted June 15, 2003 Posted June 15, 2003 In the start menu just right-click the icon/program and select "remove from this list". It will remove the shortcut but will not remove the program. To clear the whole menu, right-click the taskbar, select properties, select Start Menu, select customize, and select "Clear List".Same with hiding inactive icons.
strider_D_3000 Posted June 15, 2003 Author Posted June 15, 2003 it didnt work right click task bar>property>taskbar>customize>past items>/ u cannot right click on them to remove from list
MSNwar Posted June 15, 2003 Posted June 15, 2003 It works. Try again. Not the way you did it. Do it step-by-step the way I did it.
ABEO Posted June 15, 2003 Posted June 15, 2003 No MSNWar you are talking about start menu items he wants the past notification items:- Right click an empty area of the taskbar- Select Properties- On the task bar tab make sure 'Hide inactive icons' is ticked and click 'Customize...'- In the list box there are 2 section 'Current Items' and 'Past Items'He wants to remove all the Past Items(and so do I actually, loads of crap in there lol)

Bretenn Posted June 15, 2003 Posted June 15, 2003 Open Regeditthen go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\TrayNotifyfind IconStreams and PastIconStream then delete both...Open task manager, endtask explorer.exe and then re-start explorer by going to file>run then explorer.exe
ABEO Posted June 15, 2003 Posted June 15, 2003 OK I actually did that but didn't think to restart explorer, silly me.Thanks Bretenn
