I've gone through the FAQ and search the forum.

1. My OEM folder is paralled to I386. However it did not copy.

2. Oempreinstall = Yes in Winnt.sif

3. I made the iso via nlite

4. I'm using VMware. so I'm directly using the iso image .

5. During setup(text mode) I can see the message at status bar that the files are being copied.

still they are not copied

I know its anal but the oem dir is actually $OEM$ simple mistake,if thats not it post your winnt.sif less your serial etc & then may comment further.

Something to keep in mind is that if you place something in \$OEM$ it does get copied to the hard drive, but only temporarily. For instance, in \$OEM$ you might have your cmdlines.txt file and a file called tweaks.reg. In cmdlines.txt you call for tweaks.reg to get imported. Now you wouldn't expect to find cmdlines.txt and tweaks.reg in the root of your system drive after setup has completed. Well it's the same with anything else you put in \$OEM$.

If you do in fact want something copied and to stay there after setup, then put it inside $OEM$\$1.

Anything put in $OEM$\$1 will be copied to %SystemDrive%

Anything put in $OEM$\$$ will be copied to %SystemRoot%

Anything put in $OEM$\$Progs will be copied to %ProgramFiles%

Anything put in $OEM$\$Docs will be copied to %SystemDrive%\Documents and Settings

It's up to you to make subfolders, if you would like to copy files to System32 dir you would then put the files in $OEM$\$$\System32

Files that are put directly in the $OEM$ folder will not get copied (permanently anyhow) to your harddrive.

Boardbabe outlined it perfect. The only thing I would add is that your directory "Apps" will likely be C:\Windows\Apps (assuming that you're using drive C and that your using the default systemroot name of Windows). Anyway, I just wanted to point out that that's where Apps will wind up in case you didn't mean for it to be there. It's fine if it is there, just not where I would have thought of putting it is all.

I moved my apps folder to $1 (parallel to $$) and changed the relevant entries in RunonceEx and cleanup.

This worked and the folder was copied to C:\apps.

Still I'm confused why it didnt get copy to C:\windows\apps. No issues its working now.. but still for knowledge sake.. why???
