LAN Connection Problems

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

I noticed recently that my computer has two active LAN connections in the lower right hand corner of the desktop tray. I've noticed this recently, also, Sometimes my computer requests my login info for my dial up connection.

I use my laptop at work and at home.

I'm on a network at the office, but do use dial up at home (rarely though). How can I fix the problem when trying to surf the net, and having the computer displays that "This page is unavailable offline...." when I am on a network connection?

Thanks for any help.

when you're not using the dial-up connection, you can disable it, so that XP doesn't know it exists, and then when you need to use it, enable it.

from the network connections window in the control panel, just right click the network icon for the dial-up, and choose disable.

When you are connecting through Lan connection you should just disable the "always dial my default connection option" and set it to "Never dial a connection" given that you use internet explorer go to Tool>Internet Options>Connections.
