holmes69_03
I was wondering if anybody has had any experience with their DVD combo burners. I have recently just purchased one and needed some input before I even get it out. ($59.99) Edited January 31, 2006 by holmes69_03

teqguy
LiteOn is one of(if not the) the best manufacturers when it comes to peripherals like optical drives. They have a strong repertoire for reliability, price, and performance. Not to mention, if you're the type of person that likes getting more bang for your buck, the LiteOn drives are one of the few brands that have made a name for themselves among the firmware hacking community. Just check out http://codeguys.rpc1.com to see if the model you're going to buy is listed, because I'm almost certain that you'll be able to get firmware that'll upgrade the drive's speed. LLXX
LiteOn are a good choice in my opinion. I have two of their burners and so far both of them have worked flawlessly for over a year.

drspy00
I've only had one DVD burner but im very happy with it, even when my lg combo dvd reader/cd writer doesnt want to read a disc the liteon one always does but the lg is an older drive.Liteon are known as almost unbreakable, meaning you can tamper with the firmware and it will still work well. you can upgrade the firmware many times.you can even patch liteon drives with a special utility to remove region coding.it should be a great buy
