[Help] - LAN File Sharing Problem

Hi All

I have a home network running through a Linksys router, and I am having problems with one computer. I have tried everything in the trouble shooter and checked all the settings still no luck. All computers running WIndows XP Professional SP2. The problem is as follows...

Three computers, one laptop on wireless connection two cabled Desktops. Desktop A can access both the Laptop and DT B for file sharing, but DT B and the laptop cannot access DT A for file sharing but can access the printer attached to DT A. DT B and the laptop have no problems.

DT A appears in the "View Workgroup Computers" but when clicked the message....

"\\DesktopA is not accessable. You might not have permission to use this network resource. COntact the adminsitrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. Access Denied"

Any suggestions really appreciated.

Cheers

This error reallys annoys me, i never undersatnd it, all i know is that when i run Network setup wizard on all my machines it works...i personally don't know why it does, maybe someone else does. But thats how i fix it, just by running the XP Network Set up wizard in my network places.

Also, check on all machines that Netbios is disabled, ive had it b4 when it was enabled on one machine, and that machine wasnt seen by the others.

Do this by:

My Network Places > View Network connections > Right Click Local Area Connection > Properties > Select TCP/IP from the list > Properties > Advanced > WINS tab > Then select Disable Netbios.

In fact in WinXP pro, keep Simple file sharing option. and Share a first folder, windows will ask you if you want to use guest sharing. Accept it and no problems. I have noticed sometimes windows has corrupts security database/or settings (I don't know, but even with good settings shares don't work), to fix it, we must restore the database with secedit.
