hello friends, I just want to know can i operate my computer on internet actualy, what i want to know is? I have lots of data in my hard disk(60 full out of 80 gb) and i dont have dvd burner and i am leaving country for studies and i can't take so much of data in cd so can i run my computer on server is there any way please i have broad band connection in my home country and there too please give me solution or can i reduce size in ISO format (like xp 9in1 )it's actul size is 4.7 gb but its fits to i cd how? please give me solution to this problem.please assist me in detail thanks

Well, you already gived a solution. Using your computer as an FTP Server.

You can try Filezilla for that:

Free, clean and it does JUST what it says it does.

An alternative would be buying Webhost.

You could upload everything you have to the server, and then just access and download the stuff you need, when you need it.

This would not require you to have your computer on 24/7.

However, you do have to pay for a Webhosting!

You could set up your computer to accept a Remote Desktop connection. You would need to either have the computer in the DMZ or use port forwarding on your router to forward the RDP ports. Of course if you have a direct connection to the internet you wouldn't need to do that anyway.

Another possibility would be to use GMail Drive. The big limitation there is that you are limited in that each file can be no bigger than 10MB.

Whatever you decide to do, make sure you test it out thoroughly before you leave.

set up your pc as a ftp server! check www.dyndns.com/about for a domain name and google for ftp server and client software...
