yongde Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 Anyone here know the differences between gpupdate and gprefresh. Microsoft has documented well on gpupdate but there are not much information on gprefresh. As far as i know both of them are to refresh policy but i dun know the differences between two. Please also help to attached the gprefresh.exe command file if possible (file should be residing in c:\windows\system32). Thanks for your help.
N1K Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 Never heard of gprefresh or that it does exist in %systemroot%system32 folder...
cluberti Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 (edited) Not sure about gprefresh... I wasn't aware it was included in XP. Edited January 19, 2006 by cluberti
N1K Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 GPREFRESH was a command line tool for refreshing policy in Windows 2000 if I'm correct?
net_user Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 GPREFRESH was a command line tool for refreshing policy in Windows 2000 if I'm correct?nopei just tried "gprefresh" from a 2000 machine, and it's not recongnized
cluberti Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 gprefresh was an XP-only tool - 2000 used secedit. However, I've not found gprefresh on any of my XP machines, and I don't see it on an XP gold machine either. It perhaps didn't make it out of the beta/rc stage and into the final product? I can't find any documentation either way, but I can say for sure that I do not see it on an XP RTM build, nor on an SP2 build - only gpupdate.
Takeshi Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 Well, it does get a mention here:http://www.netdesk.com/articles_itpro/diagnostics.aspI can't find it either in XP or 2000 Server, nor in 2000 Res Kit or XP Support Tools.
