muchlux Posted January 4, 2006 Posted January 4, 2006 Hi,I have encountered some problems with the file copy function of explorer.exe:The problem:copying files which includes locked ones (by system or other user...)copy process aborts when a locked file is processed.--> the remaining unlocked files are not copied anymore!!!Does anybody know a solution (standalone utility w. drag/drop or explorer plugin) which at least gives a statistics how many files (not) have been copied etc?The dot on the i would be an additional improved dialog when overwriting existing files like "overwrite all", "skip all" ...This was one reason among others which caused a complete reinstall of a sloppy backed up XP computer with ERD commander (BartPE like utility).
enuffsaid Posted January 4, 2006 Posted January 4, 2006 Perhaps "Total Copy" can help you...http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/file_desc...id,23385,00.aspTotal Copy improves the copy and move function of a large number of files in Windows 98, 98SE, ME, and XP. The utility lets you pause the process and resume later. If the program detects a locked file, it will ask if you want to skip it or attempt to copy it later.
InTheWayBoy Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 I vote for Unstoppable Copier:http://www.roadkil.net/unstopcp.html
nmX.Memnoch Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 Awesome utility. We've been using that at work for a few years to do disk-based backups with the /CLONE switch (along with some others of course).Should you decide to purchase be sure to read their license scheme. It's a bit different than you think it would be.
