Featured Replies

i unpaked the shell32.dl_ to shel32dll

used the reshack to modify some icons

then i re compressed the new shell32.dll with makecab to a new shell32.dl_

( note the old shell32.dl_ is 2.55 mb & the new one is 2.63)

during setting up the windows there is an error says thet there is a problem with shel32.dlland give me 3 choices ( retry , skip , quit)

i use skip & after the installation complete the new icons applyied & working

i need u to help me getting rid of the error message

i mean to help me making an equal size shell32.dl_

Did you use Modifype.exe to your new shell32.dll ?

You have to do this before compressing with Makecab.exe.

Size of shell32.dl_ will vary depending upon the icon properties used. But it is important that it is repacked using modifype

Use cbin utility to repack it and avoid the error message!

Some people modified the shell32.dll

other icons etc. that way it can get bigger.

how to use modifype.exe?

no...its not affect file size so much.....makecab have also have a compression option that which type of compression we want...lower, medium Or higher compression!!!( like 7zip )..we all using default medium compression mathod to recompress shell32.dll file with makecab...thats why it gets bigger than original one!!
