You can't. You must no specify the key in Winnt/sif (or your unattented file) and setup will ask you the correct key (an error will show up too but it's not a problem ...) or you can enter a wrong key and setup will ask you to correct it ...

Goodbye.

I tried placing the key in my sif file but it still does not work. I created the winnt.sif file and placed it in the i386 directory as specified here:

http://unattended.msfn.org/beginner/localsource.htm

am i placing it in the wrong directory or is there more that needs to be done on the CD for it this to work when i attempt to install from the CD.

Here is what my Unattend file looks like:

;SetupMgrTag

[Data]

AutoPartition=0

MsDosInitiated="0"

UnattendedInstall="Yes"

[unattended]

UnattendMode=ProvideDefault

OemPreinstall=No

TargetPath=\WINDOWS

[GuiUnattended]

EncryptedAdminPassword=NO

OEMSkipRegional=1

TimeZone=35

[userData]

ProductKey=DGVMC-*****-*****-*****-*****

FullName=""

OrgName=""

[RegionalSettings]

LanguageGroup=1

Language=00000409

[identification]

JoinWorkgroup=WORKGROUP

[Networking]

InstallDefaultComponents=Yes

The product key screen does not work like other screens that can provide a default value. If a valid product key exists setup will skip the screen if no valid key exists setup will ask for one.

is there a way to see what product key is on my CD and possibly change it?
