mentalindustrie
ok so here is the mission.I Have serveral hard drives and I am after a way to delete the boot sector on all of them.not write a new one but remove them all.so that when i install windows next i only have one boot sector.basically its become a real nightmare as when I have an install issue im not really sure which drive has the valid sector.i think there is even one with LILO on it.i am aware of the commandfixbootandfixmbrbut you cant control which drive is being changed - as far as i can see.and the method must not destroy data on the disk(except the boot sector)
puntoMX
Euhmm, I think we are talking about 1 bit here; yes or no bootsector? And you are talking about a FAT system too I think. I also have to dig deeper for that... Edit:Found this: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/q140418/#X...122120121120120But I would not worry about the bootsector, it´s just one sector with some bits set for bootsector or not ... And for sure only FAT like I thought... Edited November 13, 2005 by puntoMX
