colemancb Posted November 2, 2005 Posted November 2, 2005 (edited) Hey there, I was recommended to a Linux distro called Ubuntu, people say it's good for newbs, so I said Sure.I installed it, but it won't boot up, it says that the X interface thing failed to load, and when I looked at the advanced log, it said that "No devices detected."I want to use both Win and Linux, I even tried switching to my integrated gfx but it does the same thing, any advice? It's a Dell Dimension 2400, my gfx card is a GeForce 5200FX PCI and my integrated is some variety of Intel.EDIT: Also, now I can't boot into XP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It just freezes at the boot screen. I can boot into Windows 2000, but I don't want to. Edited November 2, 2005 by Superlevel
suryad Posted November 2, 2005 Posted November 2, 2005 (edited) You might want to try a Linux forum.....especially Ubuntu's own forum. Dont think there are a lot of people here who use Linux. But from what i can see, I think you could need to install the nvidia drivers first before getting X to run. Edited November 2, 2005 by suryad
