Featured Replies

this's jusy annoying , Windows just ask me to choose program to open with for every file type. even i ticked at "Always use the selected program ... " next time it still ask what program to open this file.

Also other icons turn into unknown icon types

Does anyone know how fix this ??

thnaks a lot

Hi

Maybe this will help you

Go To

MyComputer-->Tools--->FolderOptions

and under the file types tab, associate the program you want to open certain file types.

You dont have to go through them all, just your most used.

Hi gheron

I have try that but still

  • 4 weeks later...

I am having the same problem. But just with windows media player files like wmv.

I did check the box too. (always use the selected program to open this kind of file)

When I look in the file type tab, windows media player is already associated with this type of file but I still get prompted asking me what I would like to open with....

This is what is in the OPEN command in the advanced section in the file types tab:

"C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player\wmplayer.exe" /prefetch:7 /Open "%L"

Is this correct?

Anyone now how to fix it?

I think it may have been a registry setting.

thanks

Go into Folder Options > Click the filetype, click "Advanced", click "Open", click "Edit", browse to WMP (I suggest you use Media Player Classic ;)), click OK. Click Change Icon, browse to WMP executable, click icon you desire, click OK. Finished. Fixed?

Hey Jeremy

Thats exactly what I was doing but for some reason it never saved the setting.

Well I got tired of messing with it so I ended up just reinstalling WMP10 and now it works fine.

Thanks anyways
