Switches for Steam?

Featured Replies

/silent

just guessed on that and it put a icon in the system tray and started installing. hover over to see the percentage.

however, the Steam Updating Platform thing still pops up.. then shows the Login box.. some other member may know how to make it completly silent. or you may have to use taskkill to kill steam.exe.

you can make a reg entry to have steam install somewhere else besides C:\Program Files\Steam. the Registry setting is at:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Valve\Steam

this is an ugly one:

@echo off

steaminstall.exe /S

taskkill /IM steam.exe /F

  • 1 month later...

steaminstall.exe /s /v /qb

does a clean silent install without reboot and without showing login mask after installation. it tries to update itself tho, so if you got no internet connection up, it might complain with an error message or even crash, didnt test that.

Although still incomplete (does not solve game install, account setup issues), the newest Steam installer is in msi format and uses the /passive or /quiet switch for silent install.
