a matter of convenience, pila2. why bother downloading and installing hotfixes and updates individually when you can apply the 98 se pack that installs them all in one package. besides, those hotfixes that do not appear in Windows update only resolve very minor problems and are only obtainable by requesting them from Microsoft support which may be a pain for some Windows 98se users.

time to cease this thread and move on. hope that answers your question, pila2.
