welcome screen won't let me type password

after logging off, the welcome screen won't let me type in the password for an account - whatever i type, it just stays blank. i can click onto another account that has no password, but the passworded ones wont do anything.

what part of my unattended CD should i look at? i've been spending a couple hours troubleshooting, please help!

I would look at the keyboard. Press the CAPS Lock key and see if the light comes on. If it does, then look for a process that is running on your system. If it doesn't. Then change the keyboard.

Actually, just change the keyboard first and see if that solves the problem.

Check your keyboard connections.

If you are on a KVM, then unplug it from the KVM, and plug it back in.

Try pressing ctrl-alt-del twice, does the 2000 style login appear?
