coppermine18 Posted September 9, 2005 Posted September 9, 2005 Ok, so... the internet connection was working. with both adapters enabled. All of a sudden while the local network nic is enabled the server will not get on the internet. When I disable the network adapter going to the local network, the server gets on the internet just fine.I think I need a hammer and some caffine...Why can't standard just have the internet connection wizard..?
Hatefulsorrow Posted September 9, 2005 Posted September 9, 2005 Make sure the two Nics arn't using the smae IP range. This has been know to cause such problems.
coppermine18 Posted September 9, 2005 Author Posted September 9, 2005 Well, the internet nic has ip 192.168.1.3and the local one is .1.2It worked fine that way under win2k3 sbs?Hammer time yet?
Hatefulsorrow Posted September 9, 2005 Posted September 9, 2005 lol. Almost. Try changing the subnet mask on the local one to something like.255.255.0.0rather then255.255.255.0and check to see that they are not bridged and both are set to DHCP if it used. Also check to ensure that the DNS is correct. Run and IPCONFIG /all to see that the DNS is the same as the router. If it is not change it to the IP of the router for the primary and the IP of the modem for the secondary
chilifrei64 Posted September 9, 2005 Posted September 9, 2005 They can be on the same subnet just make sure you dont add a default gateway to one of them.I have been reading recently that people have been saying that you cant run 2 nic's on one machine on the same subnet. I do this all the time as failover on my DC's and I dont run into any problems. Keep the Default gateway on your main/fastest card and remove it from the other.
