Vel Straty Posted September 8, 2005 Posted September 8, 2005 Hi!I recently downloaded the iTunes 5.0 and got this DLL inside my system.mdnsnsp.dllit is located inside C:\Program Files\Bonjourwith the following filesdnssd.dlldns-sd.exemdnsNSP.dllmDNSResponder.exeAre these necessary for Itunes to be running?Because I do not want it accessing the internet from time to time.
seapagan Posted September 8, 2005 Posted September 8, 2005 It's part of the Air-tunes and music sharing. Problem is, even if you dont use these, it still installs. I managed to install without them, but iTunes complains each time it runs. Guess te best thing is to block them at your firewall if you dont use these functions.SP
Vel Straty Posted September 8, 2005 Author Posted September 8, 2005 Thanx I think I gotta FW them as you say ...
seapagan Posted September 9, 2005 Posted September 9, 2005 The other option is disable the service using the services manager. I set it to 'disabled', and iTunes ran happily without complaining and without this service running.SP
Vel Straty Posted September 9, 2005 Author Posted September 9, 2005 seapagan>Thanx! But although the service is disabled, many of the progs still want to utilize the "mdnsnsp.dll" according to Outpost FW.I think I'll just uninstall it and see how it works.
