Memory Question

Hi everybody,

at the moment i have a intel 915g board and p4 550j with 2x512mb 400mhz ddr2 memory dual-channel.

and i'm thinking about a upgrade to 2gig of ram.

i thought about 2x512mb 533mhz ddr2. this would be the appropriate config for dual-channel working:

slot1 512 533mhz

slot2 512 400mhz

slot3 512 533mhz

slot4 512 400mhz

and my question is if slot 1 and 3 are running at 533mhz or at 400mhz because of the slower old memory in slot 2 and 4. I thought they would run slower, but someone said the only run slower if a dual-channel pair is mixed, which would not be the case in my config.

for the few nosy people in here, i need the memory for hosting game servers in lan's,

am some special games and applications,

and i got some money because of my last holiday job, as truckdriver.

they should be running at 400 but ive never seen a situation where someone would have it in 2 dual channels so i really dont know. just get the ram and you can see how it goes but im pretty sure that they will run at 400.

i'll will give it a try soon,

eventually i'll just take ddr2 400mhu ram instead of the 533, if it's much cheaper,
