Erlkönig Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 Hi everybody,at the moment i have a intel 915g board and p4 550j with 2x512mb 400mhz ddr2 memory dual-channel.and i'm thinking about a upgrade to 2gig of ram.i thought about 2x512mb 533mhz ddr2. this would be the appropriate config for dual-channel working: slot1 512 533mhzslot2 512 400mhzslot3 512 533mhzslot4 512 400mhzand my question is if slot 1 and 3 are running at 533mhz or at 400mhz because of the slower old memory in slot 2 and 4. I thought they would run slower, but someone said the only run slower if a dual-channel pair is mixed, which would not be the case in my config.THX for your responseand sorry for my eventually bad english, cause i'm german.ps:for the few nosy people in here, i need the memory for hosting game servers in lan's,am some special games and applications, and i got some money because of my last holiday job, as truckdriver.Greetings,Erlkönig
ripken204 Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 they should be running at 400 but ive never seen a situation where someone would have it in 2 dual channels so i really dont know. just get the ram and you can see how it goes but im pretty sure that they will run at 400.
Erlkönig Posted September 6, 2005 Author Posted September 6, 2005 thx for your response,i'll will give it a try soon, eventually i'll just take ddr2 400mhu ram instead of the 533, if it's much cheaper,Greetings,Erlkönig
